“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16…God loves us so much, that He allowed His son, Jesus Christ to die a substitutionary, cruel death…that we would have a chance to be redeemed and reconciled back unto Him. Hi, my name is Pamela Lewis...but I loved to be called Sista Pam (aka Pam, Mom, Gramma and Memaw).
God loved me enough that He preordained the very moment that I would receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. - Romans 8:28-30 “…28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”
I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, at the tender age of 10 years old...My brothers and sisters along with myself had moved from El Paso, Texas back with our father, in Wheeling, W. Va. Now while we were living with my mother and grandmother in El Paso, we did not attend church. As a matter of fact, we would study with my great-aunt and grandmother, who were Jehovah Witnesses. My father however was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. So when we returned to Wheeling, to live with Dad…Sunday School and church was attended regularly by us. In November of 1963, 3 months after our arrival in Wheeling, I joined church…although, some people may believe that a child of 10 years old “doesn’t know what they are doing”, (There is definitely no age requirement to receive the salvation of Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself declared, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14). As soon as children are old enough to understand that they have sinned (Romans 3:23), that Jesus died to pay the penalty for their sins (Romans 5:8; 6:23), and that they must place their faith in Jesus for salvation (John 3:16), then they are old enough to be saved. – (https://www.gotquestions.org/young-salvation.html)
But, I began rebelling against the “authoritative demands” of my parents…I honestly believe that at a certain age, those who were once children…eventually become teen-agers, and here comes life. However, in my case, as was the case with a whole generation…laws were changing that pushed back the voting age, as well as the “legal ad, ult age”, to 18 years old…but I was pregnant with my first-born by the time I turned 18, in 1971.
My life began the downward-spiral after the birth of my 2nd child, and only son… I met the man that I would marry…a marriage that ended after 6 ½ years.
This “disaster” was the catalyst for me using crack cocaine, alcohol and heroin…it was the beginning of the revolving door cycle in and out jail, experiencing homelessness. All this time, I was on a journey that is known as backsliding, falling by the wayside, stepping away from the fellowship of the Body of Christ.
But after 25 years of an abusive, addictive lifestyle...I found HOPE...and it wasn't in a program that required me to live a somewhat rigid lifestyle... Imagine that God loves you more than you can love yourself...even when you are unlovable.
A God who not only released and cured me of my addiction, but He also healed me physically from Hepatitis "C"...I don't even carry the antibodies. So for those of you that are struggling with a physical , mental, emotional and spiritual illness ...(Mine was all four, I was a trainwreck)...I would like to introduce you to the God that HEALS, and the gift of SALVATION THROUGH HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR ...JESUS CHRIST.
God Bless you!!!
